Baked Crab Dip + Wonton Chips

Ingredients

1 package large wonton wrappers

Vegetable oil for frying

2 tbs butter

4 oz imitation crab

8 oz crab meat

1.5 tsp cajun seasoning

8oz softened cream cheese

1/4 cup mayo

1 tbs lemon zest

1 tbsp lemon juice

1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce

1 cup grated Colby jack cheese for the dip - 1/3 cup for topping

1 tbs chives

1/3 cup mozzarella

Salt and pepper to taste


Preparation (Wonton Chips)

  1. Pour 1.5 - 2 inches of vegetable oil in deep pot for frying. Heat oil to 350-360ºF using a thermometer and keep the temperature monitored.

  2. Cut wonton wrappers into 3/4-inch wide strips, using as many as you would like to serve.

  3. Line a cooling rack with paper towel and set aside.

  4. Add a handful of wonton chips to the oil and fry for 1-2 minutes, flipping them over until both sides are golden brown.

  5. Transfer to cooling rack and let oil drain. Enjoy!


Preparation (Crab Dip)

  1. In a pan, add butter and sauté crab on medium heat for 2-3 minutes.

  2. Add cajun seasoning. Set aside.

  3. In a bowl, beat cream cheese until smooth. Add mayo; mix well. Fold in colby jack cheese, lemon zest, lemon juice, Worcestershire sauce, chives, salt and pepper.

  4. Transfer to a heat safe dish, top with mozzarella and Colby jack cheese.

  5. Bake for 15 minutes at 350ºF until bubbly and cheese is melty. Broil on high for 2-3 minutes until browned.

  6. Garnish with chives. Enjoy with wonton chips!
